CHRISTCHURCH

     EXPERIENCES

Introduction Christchurch

Located on the edge of Canterbury plain, Christchurch is the third-largest city in New Zealand. Around Christchurch are rivers, harbours, hills, bays, and mountains. From the city to French-settled Akaroa on Banks Peninsula, and the sea-girt town of Kaikoura, the region is buzzing with purpose.

For 150 years Christchurch was known as the Garden City. All that changed in February 2011 following the second destructive earthquake in 5 months. Today, in its post-earthquake garb, Christchurch is less about prettiness and more about rebuilding and reinvention. However, visitors can have pleasant experiences visiting the Christchurch botanic gardens and the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. There are also plenty golf courses in Christchurch for the golf lovers.

Entertainment Christchurch

Christchurch and Canterbury can lay claim to more activities, attractions and scenic variation in close proximity than anywhere else in the world.

One of the special features of this region is that you can enjoy the surf and sand at the beaches from Brighton to Sumner in the morning, and be playing in the snow in the afternoon. You can travel from the East Coast to the West Coast in less than a day, seeing an impressive variety of spectacular scenery en route!

There are many points of interest located in Christchurch. Tourists can visit the Antarctic centre for a realistic experience of he Antarctic, or see our endangered species in the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve or just spend a few hours punting on the fascinating Avon River.
